Dulcosmose® Reverse Osmosis System

Dulcosmose® Reverse Osmosis System

Reverse Osmosis is the reversal of the natural osmosis process. This process is used to desalinate aqueous solutions. Using suitable high-performance membranes it is possible today to remove more than 99 % of all salts from an aquaeous solution.

From the procedures of membrane filtration, reverse osmosis is the one with the highest separation limit. The raw water to be desalinated is lead into a chamber that is sealed by means of  a semi-permeable membrane. In contrast to the osmotic pressure gradient, an artificial pressure is created in the chamber. As the membrane is only permeable to pure water, but not for ions and other particles dissolved in the water, part of the raw water (=concentrated solution) will become pure, desalinated water (permeate) and the other part will become an even higher concentrated solution (concentrate). For this process, ProMinent uses the latest version of high quality ultra low pressure membranes in its Dulcosmose® reverse osmosis generators.

Advantages

  • Easy and safe handling with modern micro processor control with integrated conductivity measuring and clear display of operation status
  • Efficient operation with pure water yield of up to 80 % and separation of more than 99 % of dissolved ions
  • Low energy input thanks to use of  "Low Energy" reverse osmosis membranes and energy recovery via concentrate stream (with water desalination)
  • Long lifetime of membranes thanks to integrated purification conception
  • Matured, service-friendly composition of generators on stainless steel frame
  • Low installation costs, as small high pressure pumps can be used
  • On demand, supply of complete solutions with exactly aligned pre- and post treatment steps, i.e. easy networking and perfect functioning of multiple generator components.

Application Areas

Typcial application areas are in the Chemical and pharmaceutical industry, food and beverage industry, in the metal processing industry, electroplating industry, and for boiler feed water treatment in power generators. Desalination principally divides three types of raw waters with different salt contents:

  • drinking water
  • brackish water
  • sea water

Our engineers, based upon the vast experience in handling with these raw waters, design the optimal reverse osmosis generator system for the customer based upon their respective raw water analysis. Simultaneously, the best-suitable pre and post  treatment steps are selected making use of other ProMinent products. Thus, a complete package is compiled for the ProMinent customer from one source. Complete systems installed in standard transportation containers are among our specialties.

ProMinent also has comprehensive experience in constructing other special generators such as double-stage systems for higher requests to permeate quality. Please contact us, we will be pleased to advise you.
